Taboo or Not

Taboo or Not

How free can a person be? Free from society, views, judgement, standards? Can one be free in front of other people? To be completely naked, especially when the world is haunted by ‘beauty standards’? To be open in both mind and body? To stop thinking about what he looks like and what his shape is? What others think of him? And is it possible to find oneself leggy in front of a complete stranger? In this case, to trust and open up to the photographer. To look at yourself from the outside? Is it possible to show yourself to others without shyness, without fear of being judged? Whether you are a woman or a man. How open can you be in front of friends, family and strangers? Are we able to break outside of our drawn circle?
This project made me look at myself differently, let myself go. It made me want to take it off. It opened doors for me to realise myself through other models. They became an example for me with their dignity and their individuality. This openness and honesty, overcoming my fear of the camera, of me and myself, and at the same time my fear of them being naked and trusting me, made me look at life in a different way.
Our bodies belong to us. And we have the right to share them. To open them up to the world. To overcome the complexes and taboos created by society. To let ourselves show who we are. Despite age, limits, inhibitions and rules.
